I help people create a little book of their life. Each custom-designed, hardbound book(s) is approximately 90 pages and includes photographs from different times in your life. The process also includes four hours of video taped interviews.

Why do this?

I wish my Mom had written a little book about her life.

I realize now how little I really knew of this amazing woman. Quiet, noble, rich in life’s experiences. I only knew a little really. What were her joys, her fears? What would have been the gifts from her heart she felt most important to leave for the family and friends? What were her gratitudes? Who was her first love? What song did her mother sing to her when she was a small child? Did Mom like oatmeal, or was it grits?

Soon sun will set on those who have lived large, glorious, sometimes tragic lives. But their ripples can go on forever. It is important to leave behind a definitive book that describes who you are, not just what a resume or obituary says…in your own words.

The truth is everyone wants to live forever.

Clients

Eastern North Carolina is my home. As a war reporter for 20 years, award-winning writer, photographer and communication leader for more than 45 years, I am fortunate to now combine these experiences and skills into a solid approach to helping people compile and produce a hardbound book of theirs lives. These book projects are joyful experiences. They are also detailed, laborious and painstaking. I believe though there is comfort in knowing there will be a little piece of evidence of your life’s joys and pains, laughter and tears; that your progeny will look to in posterity and learn and remember the arc of your life. Clients I am interested in working with are those whose life experiences are similar to my own. Because I have lived these experiences, I feel I may more accurately portrait your life.

Leaders

Leadership has always been a lonely role. It is met with acceptance by some; it has also been met with sabotage. But those who have persevered in the arena of leadership know the great triumphs and the great disappointments. I speak the language of leadership. Clients who know these challenges across a life’s journey have important things to say to their kids on the subject. A little book is a great way to share this wisdom.

Veterans

As a veteran, I have experienced the horror of war, the brotherhood, the sacrifice, the honor few ever understand. Because of these experiences, I share common ground with clients who have been in the crucible. The unique and noble cause of veteran clients needs to be shared with family. Often it is difficult to talk to family about  these experiences. In a little book, you can describe your life as a veteran and why it was important to your warrior spirit.

Family

It has been an honor to have raised five children. Three of my own and two stepdaughters. I cherish them in ways they may never truly understand. As a brother, father, husband, and son, I have experienced life in so many blessed ways. Family is perhaps the most important experience in life. There are things I would love to share with them about how I experienced “family” in a little book describing what they probably never knew…And why love conquers all.

Entrepreneurs

What is an entrepreneur? It is a visionary who has taken great risk in life, who has blazed new trails, who has left it all on the field in the hope of greater return. I particularly love clients who are entrepreneurs. They seem to have vision and are fearless in life. Their story is one of excitement and challenge. Their story is also one of secrets. In a little book, they can share their experiences, good and bad, so that their progeny may learn and succeed too.

Give me a call and we can talk about next steps

Have any questions? I am always open to talk about how to begin the process of putting together a little book of your life.
